Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, individual with extensive experience of application development, support and interoperability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day management the following small teams within the health board.

  • Architecture & Integration Team
  • Clinical Applications Support Team
  • Application Development Team

Providing operational direction, performance management, and professional development. Work closely with clinical, operational, and digital colleagues to ensure Applications meet service needs, support safe patient care, and align with the wider Digital and Data Strategy of Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB).

Main duties of the job

Lead and develop the teams charge. Ensure clear objectives, performance management, and professional development. Oversee day-to-day support and maintenance of clinical systems, ensuring incidents and service requests meet agreed SLAs. Act as escalation point for complex issues, coordinating resolution. Manage implementation, upgrades, and configuration of clinical applications with minimal service disruption. Ensure systems are clinically safe, compliant with governance, and meet information governance and cyber security standards. Work with suppliers to meet contractual obligations and organisational requirements. Build strong relationships with clinical and operational leads to ensure applications support safe, effective service delivery. Use user feedback to inform improvements and benefits realisation. Ensure applications are used safely and consistently in line with policies and national standards. Contribute to governance forums, risk management, and incident reviews. Maintain system documentation, user guides, and training resources. Support development and delivery of the organisation’s Digital Strategic Framework. Provide advice on application capability, interoperability, and digital transformation opportunities. Assist with business cases and option appraisals for future applications and upgrades. Represent PTHB at national and regional groups, contributing to the clinical applications agenda.
