Job overview
Responsible for providing comprehensive confidential secretarial and administrative support to Consultant and cover for wider service and other Consultants in absence of their Medical Secretary.
There are a variety of routines within this post therefore a flexible approach to work is essential. The post holder will have knowledge of secretarial and administrative procedures and systems i.e. PAS/Myrddin, WCCIS.
Main duties of the job
Provide confidential secretarial support to the Consultant and Administrative support to the wider Team to include organization of the clinician’s workload, typing of clinical reports, letters, minutes etc
Audio/copy typing associated with medical correspondence, medical reports, discharge and clinic letters, statistics and other official correspondence and related clerical work.
Ensuring a high degree of speed and accuracy in the production of typewritten work.
Organize and maintain Consultants electronic, paper diaries, answering and responding to email, and phone calls.
Arrange events and/or seminars for the Consultant and clinical staff within the Team.

- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent demonstrable experience / qualification
- Essential • Knowledge of legal medical terms • Audio typing to include use of digital audio systems • Knowledge and experience of secretarial and administrative functions • Confidential data base management including set up and maintenance • Knowledge and experience of using data protection guidelines
