Job overview
This post is designed to support the work of the Primary Care Department with specific responsibility for monitoring activity relating to the delivery of General Medical Services, General Optometric Services and General Dental Services.
Contributing to the overall Primary Care agenda by: -
Collecting and analysing data, assisting with audits, supporting procurement processes and managing projects as required.
Assisting with day-to-day business-as-usual functions, such as drafting contracts and service specifications, handling technical queries, and operational support to Primary Care Department programmes of work.
Making recommendations to the Primary Care Contracts Manager primarily, and other managers within the Primary Care Department.
Main duties of the job
Ensuring that Primary Care services comply with relevant legislation, policy, and procedures.
• Compile contract management data and undertake complex data gathering through various governance audits on a regular basis, including the maintenance of appropriate databases to ascertain criteria is being properly met by the contractor professions.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent knowledge gained through a range of work procedures or practices requiring expertise within a specialism or discipline in a relevant field OR Educated to Diploma level plus significant experience in a relevant field
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of the structure and operation of the Health Board
- Knowledge of the services for which the Primary Care department is responsible, including the relationship between the Health Board and Independent Contractor service providers
Experience
Essential criteria
- Working in a health care setting, particularly in Primary Care
- Working in a busy environment under specific time pressures
- Working in an environment where both tact and diplomacy has had to be used
- Developing and using computer-based management information systems
- Experience of setting up systems and processes
- Prepare and present detailed reports
Desirable criteria
- Experience in the use of Oracle

- Communicate with all levels within and outside the organisation including the ability to communicate effectively with patients and members of the public
- Interpret and analyse complex facts and audit results and to readily identify areas requiring further action or investigation and improvement

- Some ability to speak, read and/or write Welsh, or an eagerness to learn
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
