THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING.

The post holder will be part of the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team to work within the team and partner agencies to support the Whole School Approach. Participate in a team structure that has responsibility for providing early, identification and brief intervention to promote positive emotional wellbeing and resilience, which will be delegated activities from the Powys CAMHS In-Reach Team Lead or Practitioners.
The role will primarily support the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Practitioners to engage with school staff to support in the provision of education relating to emotional and mental health and well-being, promoting the emotional well-being and resilience. The promotion would be through the delivery of agreed programmes of group and individual interventions, with agreement of the child/young person, parents/carers and as an outcome of Powys CAMHS In-Reach Schools consultation.

Main duties of the job

Support the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team in the implementation of support for schools, to support children and young people with low level mental health and emotional problems such as anxiety and low mood. Under the supervision and direction of the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team Lead or Practitioners deliver developmentally appropriate, and evidence based early intervention and low threshold group interventions and activities within a variety of settings for children. This would be with direction of the Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Team Lead and Practitioners after developing a plan following consultation with a school. Deliver approved training to relevant staff across the Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) area including those within Primary Care and education to build skills and knowledge.
Participate in a multi-disciplinary environment and work in a collaborative manner with colleagues and partner agencies.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ3 in Health or Social Care or equivalent demonstrable experience in a Health or Social Care setting
  • Working within a team Experience of working with young people with mental health problems Experience of multi-agency working
  • Excellent and effective communication skills to engage school aged children and young people Standard Keyboard and IT skills
  • Commitment to support in the delivery of a high-quality, emotional Wellbeing Service within Powys CAMHS School In-Reach Service, under delegation from the Team Lead or Practitioners Demonstrate PTHB Values Awareness of Health and Safety requirements
  • Ability and willingness to travel within PTHB geographical area in a timely manner Able to work hours flexibly
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with IT systems and training presentations Aware of the needs of the children and young people, their relatives/carers, working with schools at an early intervention stage Knowledge of voluntary, statutory services and Child Protection Knowledge of child development and experience of working with families and a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of working with children and/or young people with mental health problems Experience of facilitating group work, community work or 1-1 work with patients Evidence of working in a ‘child centred’ approach
  • Ability to speak Welsh
