Aspiring Radiography Support Worker
NHS AfC: Band 3
Be part of a 'Healthy Caring Powys' and help us transform the way we provide health and care, so our communities can Start Well, Live Well and Age Well.
Job overview
We are delighted to offer you the chance to join PTHB as an Aspiring Radiographer. Join our dynamic Radiography Team as a Radiography Support Worker, supporting the delivery of high-quality care to our patients in a community hospital setting.
This is a Radiography Training Role; we will release you from your duties to undertake your degree level studies on the BSc (Hons) Radiography Course at Bangor University. The course is a full-time degree programme delivered at the Bangor University Wrexham-based Campus over the duration of 3 academic years, starting September 2026.
You will have no university fees to pay and will 'earn while you learn'
At the end of your academic studies, you will be guaranteed a Band 5 Radiographer Role in PTHB and will be committed to working in PTHB for a minimum of 2 years post registration.
We recommend you visit the Bangor University website and get in touch with the university course leaders to find out more information about the degree course.
Please note that this is Stage 1 of the recruitment and selection process. Successful applicants will be invited to attend an interview on 6th January and must also prepare and submit an independent application via UCAS by 14th January 2026 at 6:00pm.
Any offer of the role will be conditional upon meeting the required academic standards and successfully completing Stage 2 of the recruitment and selection process with Bangor University.
Main duties of the job
Please see attached Job Description and Person Specification for further information regarding the main duties of the role along with the essential and desirable criteria required of our applicants.
As the degree programme is a full-time programme, the majority of the contracted hours will be spent undertaking study leave to meet the requirements of the degree programme, either through attendance at academic study/lectures or clinical placement learning opportunities.
When the university academic calendar allows i.e. during academic holidays and other identified and agreed days/hours, the successful candidate will undertake planned clinical duties as a Radiography Support Worker in the clinical environment/community Hospital setting.
There is a requirement to travel between PTHB hospital sites as well as attend Bangor University's Wrexham-based Campus for academic studies and therefore the successful candidate will require a driver's licence and access to a vehicle.
Applications from candidates expecting A' Level results in August 2026 are welcome, and any offer of employment will be subject to achieving results that meet the university entry requirements.
