Delivery of a high-quality independent Advocacy service in accordance with the Health Board’s Code of Practice.
Develop and implement relevant policies and procedures.
Line management, support, provide supervision and annual appraisal for the Advocacy Team.
Delivery of high standard independent Advocacy service through regular monitoring of casework and practice.
Main duties of the job
Overall line management responsibility for the Mental Health Advocates and Advocacy Administrator, ensuring a working pattern that delivers an adequate and responsive team covering across PTHB.
Lead on awareness raising of the PTHB Advocacy Service and support with the development of a training programme.
Delivery of a high standard independent Advocacy service through regular monitoring of casework and practice.
Produce, analyse and present service activity data to Head of Learning Disabilities and the MCA Operational Group.
Maintain and continually update knowledge of legislation that impacts on our Advocacy partners and independent Advocacy.
Lead on the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Health Board’s Mental Health Advocacy Policy.
Respond to and manage Complaints and Concerns raised about the delivery of Advocacy.
Provide cover as needed to support sickness/annual leave across the team.
Adhere to all consent and confidentiality protocols.
Assist with financial planning and monitoring of Welsh Government Funding.
Safeguard the independence of Advocacy in the delivery of the Advocacy service.
Monitor the team’s compliance with Data Protection legislation requirements.

Essential criteria
- Educated to master’s degree level or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
- Knowledge and qualification of staff management, performance management
- Knowledge of legislation relevant to independent Advocacy, especially Mental Health
- Respect and promote people’s rights to make informed decisions/choices
Desirable criteria
- Experience in developing, Health Board wide Policies
- Advocacy qualification
