An exciting opportunity has arisen on the Day Case Unit to recruit a highly motivated Band 5 staff nurse to join our small dedicated team in order to provide a safe and efficient service to surgical patients

This role offers the opportunity to work within a high-quality, patient-focused surgical service, supporting a range of specialties including podiatric surgery, Gynaecology, urology and trauma and orthopaedics'. 

As a day surgery nurse, you will play a key role in the patients day surgery experience delivering safe and effective perioperative care and recovery through to discharge. Ensuring the smooth running of theatre lists and patient flow. Maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support patient safety, assist during surgical procedures, and contribute to efficient theatre operations.

Main duties of the job

Candidates need to be flexible, enthusiastic and reliable- working independently and as part of a team.

The unit is predominantly nurse led with input from other members of the multi- disciplinary team in order to provide a high standard of care to patients both pre- operatively and post operatively. You will be involved in the admission process as well as the discharge planning of a small group of patients each shift and be expected to access, plan, implement and evaluate their care needs.

Provide skills in checking setting up and first line maintenance of peri-operative equipment within own competence
