An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an additional three Children in Care Nurses to support the Named Nurse Children in Care within Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust – based at Coral House Shrewsbury.
The successful applicant will be a passionate and inspirational leader, with demonstratable experience of advocating for and working with Children in Care and Care Leavers.

You will have the opportunity to be creative and deliver training engaging carers and partner agencies to ensure that health needs are assessed and met for Children in Care.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate experience working with children of all ages, vulnerable groups and those with additional health needs.
The successful candidate will share this commitment and demonstrate our Trust values. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and forward-thinking Nurses who can articulate practical ideas on how the Trust can further develop its service, particularly regarding the upper age Children in Care and Care Leavers.

Main duties of the job
You should have experience of partnership working with key stakeholders; innovation and development and knowledge and understanding of delivery against key performance targets. This is a county wide post therefore you must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post.

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Be registered on Part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register as a children's nurse or mental health nurse/adult nurse with significant experience working with vulnerable children and young people or Part 3 as a specialist community health nurse.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with Children in Care and Care Leavers
- Experience of working in a community setting
- Experience of holding Children in Care/Care Leavers caseloads
- Experience of working with young people who can be difficult to engage and display challenging behaviours
- Demonstrated experience of co-working in complex and challenging environments
- Demonstrable experience of working with partner agencies to promote the health of Children in Care
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Essential criteria
- Sound Knowledge of legislation and policy relevant to Children in Care
- Current knowledge of NHS safeguarding policy and process and underpinning legislation regarding Children in Care
- Demonstrate knowledge of inter-agency working particularly with regard to Children in Care
- IT skills and computer literacy
- Understanding of the wider healthcare environment
- Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to partners from a broad range agencies, disciplines and services.
- Ability to analyse very complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources
- Numerate and able to understand complex data combined with good analytical skills
- Able to challenge decisions and articulate rationale effectively
