We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible, highly motivated and experienced Radiographers to join our very busy Cross Sectional team here at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. The working pattern will predominantly be 12 hour shifts, with occasional 7.5 hour duties over a 7 day roster. The successful applicants must have a BSc (Hon) Diagnostic Radiography or DCR, current HCPC registration and preferably post graduate experience and competence in CT or MRI.
Main duties of the job
- To carry out clinical and administrative work as a Senior member of the Radiology team
- Carry out quality CT/ MRI imaging in line departmental protocols
- Support the Modality Superintendent radiographers
- Assisting in training other staff/ students
- To provide a high quality service for patients across the department
- Maintain cannulation skills for the administration of intravenous contrast media
Working for our organisation
Our scanners include 3 Siemens Magnetom Aera MRI scanners and 3 Siemens Definition CT scanners. We are currently in the process of adding to our services with a brand-new, purpose-built imaging hub incorporating new CT and MRI scanners, which will be completed in August 2021.
The successful applicants will be an integral part of the Cross Sectional team and will be based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site. This role also includes participation in the CT and MRI on-call rosters.
All Radiographers with more than 1 year post graduate experience contribute to the training and mentorship of undergraduate students and the department has an excellent on site teaching environment. The department is fully committed to role extension and has practicing Radiographers undertaking Ultrasound, Barium Swallows, CT Colonoscopies and plain film reporting.

Essential criteria
- Diploma/BSc in Radiography
- Current HCPC registration
- Current visa to work in UK
Desirable criteria
- CT and or MRI Post graduate qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Competency in CT scanning
- Competency in MRI scanning
- Previous experience of working/ training in an NHS hospital.
Skills
Essential criteria
- IV Cannulation and administration of IV contrast media
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of IRMER 2017
- Evidence of computer literacy
- Mentoring students/ new staff
