Job overview

We are looking for highly motivated Radiographers to join our very busy Radiology team here at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The successful applicant will work primarily at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with possibilities to rotate through the newly created Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), Hollinswood House. 

The successful applicants must have a BSc (Hon) Diagnostic Radiography or DCR and a current HCPC registration. 

The successful applicant will be an integral part of the general team which includes theatre imaging and fluoroscopy. Training and preceptorship will be supported. This role also includes participation in a busy general rotation including participation in the on-call and 7 day working rosters .  

All Radiographers with more than 1 year post graduate experience contribute to the training and mentorship of undergraduate students and preceptees the department has an excellent on-site teaching environment.  

The department is fully committed to Advanced Practice and the development of our teams supported by our Consultant Radiographer and working closely with our Consultant Radiologists.   

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake X-ray examinations as an operator in accordance with IR(ME)R 2017, under indirect 
    supervision of more senior member of staff
  • To justify medical exposures using the Department’s IR(ME)R Examination Protocols to ensure a safe effective x-ray service to all patients
  • To produce a good quality diagnostic image whilst keeping the radiation dose as low as is reasonably 
    practicable
  • To assess and treat a workload of patients whilst maintaining a high standard of care to all patients and staff
  • To comply with Trust, Departmental, health and safety and Data protection policies
  • To maintain at all times patients’ privacy and confidentiality

  • Current HCPC registration
  • Diploma/BSc in Diagnostic Radiography

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in general radiography during training or in a previous position
  • Experience or training in an NHS Hospital
  • Experience in out of hours working during training
Desirable criteria
  • Training in CT head scanning

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • IR(ME)R 2017
  • IRR17 Regulations
  • COSHH
Desirable criteria
  • IV Cannulation
