Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Medicine and Emergency Care Division as a Service Manager. This is a full time position, working as part of a team across both the Royal Shrewsbury and the Princess Royal Hospitals.   

The successful candidate will be one of four Service Managers responsible for supporting the Assistant Operational Managers and Operational Managers in the management of the business activities of the Division to ensure delivery of its strategic and operational objectives in line with the Operational Delivery Plan.

The post holder will be required to work between both sites.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will fulfil a crucial role in fostering excellent communication and working relationships with the clinical specialities, their teams and stakeholders. To be responsible for our ambitious programme for service improvement and sustained delivery of key local and national performance standards including 18week RTT and Cancer waiting times.

Current NHS experience is an advantage, with a strong focus on delivery and a desire for success. Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First degree level education or equivalent professional qualification or experience
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of a commitment to continuous professional development

Management Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of previous junior management role / managing teams
  • Experience of involvement / implementation in service improvement projects would be an advantage
  • Experience of involvement in delivery of complex change

Specialist knowledge, skills a

Essential criteria
  • Aptitude for leadership and previous involvement in decision making
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Knowledge of NHS business and financial systems and processes
  • Ability to analyse complex and sometimes conflicting information in order to resolve issues
  • Knowledge of RTT, Cancer Pathways and National Targets

Personal Circumstances

  • Ability to travel across the health community as required
