Clinical Pharmacy Technician - AMU

Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated, adaptable and conscientious registered Pharmacy Technician with ACT to join our team.

We are a department committed to the extended role of Technicians, and you will be encouraged to develop your skills in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice in our busy department.  

Medicines Management Systems are highly integrated into electronic IT systems. Pharmacy Technicians are involved in “at the bedside clinical services”, PODs, medicines reconciliation and one-stop dispensing. 

This position provide the successful applicant with the ability to specialise in the essential AMU pathway that has a real impact in patient care.

Main duties of the job

To provide staff support, training, management and guidance under the direction of a senior member of staff.

Dispensing, medicines supply and accuracy checking of:

  • Stock medicines
  • Inpatient and outpatient medicines
  • Clinical trial medicines 
  • Aseptically prepared medicines including radiopharmaceutical diagnostics

Medicines Management:

  • Patient counselling 
  • Medicine reconciliation
  • Discharge medicines service

Person specification

Attainments

Essential criteria
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Accredited Checking Technician
  • BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a wide range of pharmaceutical skills and computer work.
  • Recent NHS hospital dispensing experience.
  • Relevant post qualification experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in supervising people and operations
  • Experience in medicines management activities
