Clinical Nurse Specialist - Urology

Job overview

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated Registered Nurse to join our well-established Urology Nurse Specialist team. This post enables us to expand our Clinical Nursing Team  to develop and improve care for urological patients.

The post holder will work, as part of the multidisciplinary team providing diagnosis, treatment and management of various urological conditions mainly along the prostate pathway. Considerable post registration experience is required, including experience in the area of urology.

We welcome applications from trained nurses with excellent communication and organisational skills, who offer a proactive approach to improving the urology patient’s experience. Using your clinical knowledge and skills you will provide advice and support to Urology patients across our two hospital sites.

We require a full-time (37.5 hour’s per week) Clinical Nurse Specialist to work as part of our multidisciplinary team. Applications for part time hours will be considered, please note your reasons for part time working as part of your supporting statement. Occasional weekend and evening working may be required.

Main duties of the job

  • Contribute to an evidence-based specialist nursing service, which is responsive to users needs, to a cohort of patients referred to the specialist service/MDT. Care will reflect current local protocols and national guidelines and will be delivered through face-to-face consultation or via telephone communication on a day-to-day basis.
  • Work clinically for 80% of the role demonstrating specialist skills in the holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the cohort of patients within the specialist service. This will necessitate a degree of autonomy and advocacy, to ensure the delivery of appropriate care.
  • Contribute to the management of a cohort of patients and prioritise workload to meet patient and service needs.
