Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Children's Nursing Associate to join our friendly and dedicated team.
The purpose of the role is to support the Special School Nursing Team in the delivery of high quality nursing care to children and young people within 2 Special Schools across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
You will need to work independently under the leadership of registered nurses working to your national recognised code of conduct and standards of proficiency for Nursing Associates.
This post will work primarily at The Bridge School, Telford, but at times you may be required to attend Severndale School, Shrewsbury.

Main duties of the job
- Provide compassionate, safe and effective care and support to children & young people in a range of care settings.
- Contribute to the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of care in association with the registered nurse.
- To undertake phlebotomy.
- To be fully conversant with and work within the Nursing and Midwifery Code and Standards of Proficiency for Nursing associates.
- Recognise and work within the limits of their competence.
- Exercise personal responsibility and work independently within defined parameters of practice, taking the initiative in a variety of situations and performing a range of clinical and care skills consistent with the role, responsibilities and professional values of a Nursing Associate.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
- Educated to level 5 Diploma of Higher Education and Foundation degree in nursing associate practice / Nurse Associate Apprenticeship Certificate.
Experience

- Demonstrable experience of working as an Nurse Associate within the NHS or other care setting.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to recognise own limitations in the context of the nursing associate role.
- Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered health or care professional.
