Are you a compassionate, detail-driven professional with a passion for making a real difference? We’re on the lookout for a highly organised Medical Secretary to become a vital part of our Integrated Front Door Team in the Urgent and Emergency Care Division.

In this dynamic role, you’ll be the heartbeat of our clinical operations, providing expert secretarial support to a team of General Practitioners (GPs), Consultants and their teams.

The Integrated Front Door (IFD) and Urgent Community Response Teams are multi-agency and inter-disciplinary teams working to prevent avoidable hospital admission and support complex discharge from hospital. They work in a seamless and integrated way across partner organisations, spanning health, social care and the voluntary sector. The teams will proactively ‘pull’, and case manage the needs of a range of people with moderate and complex care needs and support these people safely to transfer via the most appropriate discharge and community pathway. Urgent Community Response Teams offer a service that provides rapid assessment and care to people in their own homes to prevent hospital admission and avoid further deterioration of their condition and the team will we will work together through a multi-agency approach to ensure people get the care and support they need on their discharge from the hospital setting. 

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide essential secretarial support to a range of General Practitioners, Consultants, and their teams across community urgent care division, helping to ensure the smooth operation of our services and the delivery of high-quality care.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a medical secretarial /administrative role, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work independently . 

Proficiency in medical terminology and IT systems is essential, along with a flexible, proactive attitude and a strong commitment to compassionate care.

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a medical secretarial role
  • Audio typing/medical word processing experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Essential criteria
  • Accurate computer skills
  • High standard of grammar and spelling
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel EPR records
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Experience of composing and drafting correspondence for approval

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
