The Neonatal unit at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford are  looking to recruit a Housekeeper. The role involves ensuring the high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained. The successful applicant will be involved in stock ordering and distribution, reporting items for repair and cleaning.  They will be involved in the preparation of meals for our parents also ensuring the kitchen area on the ward is maintained in line with national and local guidelines.

Main duties of the job

The ideal applicant will have IT skills to enable use of the trust Oracle ordering system. They will be punctual, reliable and able to work as part of a team.

The post holder is responsible for ordering non-clinical supplies, cleaning, catering, and other tasks that help to create a suitable environment to deliver high quality care in.                                                  

The post holder will report to the Ward Manager  with any maintenance faults or issues preventing a suitable environment being maintained.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales.

We are a Level 2 Local Neonatal Unit part of the West Midlands Operational Delivery Network which has 22 cots comprising of 2 intensive care cots 4 high dependency and 16 special care cots. We provide excellent care for preterm babies from 27 weeks gestation and sick term new born babies. We also provide stabilisation to babies born at a lower gestation and sick babies before transfer out to an NICU.

We have a very supportive and forward thinking multi disciplinary team who work closely together to ensure the best outcomes for the babies and families in our care.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE's (Grade 9- 4 or equivalent) including Maths and English

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in service industry.
  • Computer skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in NHS
  • To have a basic knowledge of a hospital environment and infection control
  • Knowledge of Oracle ordering system

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively – face to face /telephone, nonverbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of stock management
  • Attention to detail
