Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated, adaptable and conscientious Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our existing team.  Experience of hospital pharmacy is essential with desirable experience as a Medicine Management Technician.

We are a department that is committed to the extended role of technicians, and you will be encouraged to develop your skills in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice in our busy department. 

Main duties of the job

Your duties will involve clinical services mostly based on Paediatric wards (medicines reconciliation reviews), dispensing, counselling and clinical trials.  Medicines Management Systems are highly integrated into electronic IT systems. Pharmacy Technicians are involved in “at the bedside clinical services”, POD’s, medicines reconciliation and one stop dispensing. 

The successful candidate will have relevant hospital pharmacy experience, hold a BTEC/ NVQ Level 3 (Pharmaceutical Sciences) qualification or equivalent, have registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and also hold an Accredited Checking Technician qualification. 

There will be a requirement to participate in extended hours working, including weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

Attainments

Essential criteria
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
  • Accredited Checking Technician
  • Shows a commitment to clinical governance and CPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a wide range of pharmaceutical skills and computer work
  • Relevant post qualification experience
  • Recent hospital dispensing experience
  • Experience in Ward based Medicines Management
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in supervising people and operations
