Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner who is ready to take the next step in a leadership role. This is a maternity cover position and provides a great development opportunity. We are looking for someone who has a creative approach and can champion the contribution of Step 2 teams work within AWP NHS B&NES Talking Therapies Services. You will be encouraged to develop and implement new projects and changes to improve our service. Focusing on the support, development and wellbeing of our PWP team. The post holder will offer evidence-based practice through facilitated self-help, individually by phone, face-to-face, cCBT and in groups. As well as develop, train and support trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs), qualified PWPs and other Primary Care colleagues.
In addition, there is a significant case management, line management and clinical supervision component to the post and this is an opportunity for qualified and experienced Talking Therapies PWPs who are enthusiastic and excited by the development of low intensity services to share their interest and passion, and to develop these qualities and skills in others.
Main duties of the job
To co-ordinate and oversee the Step 2 Low Intensity output of Talking Therapies –across BSW (BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire) Service. To be a guide and resource for the Senior PWPs in their work with the Step 2 teams. To generate and organise clinical audits, service evaluations and other quality improvement initiatives across the PWP teams and to contribute to wider such projects across the service. To represent the Step 2 voice in the service management team. To manage the service’s relationship with training providers (Exeter University) in regard to PWP trainings and to lead on robust recruitment of PWPs.
To lead on PWP development within the service including co-ordinating training and continuous professional development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Communication & Working Relationships
Reach out to and maintain communication with internal Trust services (eg. Long Term Condition services) and external agencies relevant to Step 2 work, including those form which the service accepts, or to which it sends, referrals.
Be a point of contact for Trust team leaders, third sector partners and to meet with teams and present the work of Step 2, LTC and the wider service.
Be available to all PWPs for advice, information and guidance as appropriate.
Planning & Organisation
Plan and review PWP recruitment over the year, particularly to facilitate and maintain the Service’s Low intensity offer.
Be the point of contact and liaison for Exeter University in relation to PWP traineeships and MSCi Applied Psychology student placements
Lead on the recruitment process for employed, qualified PWPs. Explore creative options to improve recruitment such as social media, apprenticeships and assistant PWPs.
Analytics
Oversee and manage the audit and service evaluation of Step 2 work, in discussion with the Service Lead, and use the outcomes to improve the work in line with Service KPIs, NICE guidelines and staff wellbeing.
Responsibility for Patient/Client Care, Treatment & Therapy
Offer the equivalent of 1 day of a personal clinical caseload, either at Step 2 or Step 3 HI CBT or a combination, according to appropriate qualifications and accreditation.
Develop groups, courses and webinars appropriate to service need and the evidence base. Facilitate the same as a way to model practice to Seniors or PWPs. Regularly review such interventions at Step 2 in regard to attendance, viability, Recovery and other KPIs. Promote, encourage and improve such online interventions.
Liaise with SilverCloud on behalf of the service and disseminate latest good practice form them. Investigate and trial suitable new computerised interventions in discussion with the Service Lead.
Case manage Senior PWPs as appropriate.
Occasional case management of PWPs, as indicated above.
Contribute to the Long Term Conditions activity of the service. Liaise with HI CBT LTC practitioners and any LTC Lead(s) in the service or take on the Lead role. Develop referral and care pathways in partnership with LTC and other similar services.
Willingness and ability to complete further trainings as required and appropriate to developments in the clinical work of the service.
Policy, Service, Research & Development Responsibility
Meet with the Service Lead for formal line management sessions at least monthly. Keep the Service Lead informed less formally on a daily basis of service issues and dilemmas.
To lead on service development projects, particularly those relevant to Step 2 work and outcomes.
Contribute to the Duty system across the service, including attending Duty meetings as appropriate, advising other managers, presenting the work and remit of Step 2 to teams and other forums.
Write, review and develop policy and practice at Step 2. Keep up to date with national developments and guidelines and ensure these are disseminated to Step 2 teams. Consult IAPT-related websites on a regular basis.

- Working as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner in an IAPT service – Offering case management supervision to Low Intensity PWPs in an IAPT service
- IAPT Low Intensity Supervision training
- An understanding of IAPT national Key Performance Indicators and the contribution of Step 2 clinical output
- Be able to attend office base at least 1 day a week
Desirable criteria
- IAPT Low Intensity Long Term Conditions training
- Experience of using technology to improve standards of care and support to our patients
- Experience running courses
