Job overview
We are seeking a Specialist Grade Doctor to join the Intensive Service. This is a newly created post to work alongside the part time Consultant within the team.
Based at Hillview Lodge, the Specialist Grade doctor will play a key role in the multi-disciplinary Team providing advice and assessment of patients under the Intensive service, liaising and working closely with the Inpatient Unit to assist with discharge planning, as well as working in partnership with other primary and secondary care services.

Main duties of the job
As the Specialist Doctor on the ward you will provide clinical leadership and consultation for Intensive service staff.
-actively participate in team and personal caseload management
-Assess and treat patients as requested by Staff working closely with GPs in ensuring continuity of care between Primary and secondary sectors
-Review patients on the Intensive Service caseload
-deliver direct interventions to service users at a level of intensity according to need including those service users who require an assertive approach who are difficult to engage. This will include on-going assessment, diagnoses (including review and clarification) and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
-Regular attendance twice daily Team Meetings.
-To hold CPA meetings for outpatients.
-To visit patients in their own place of residence
-To liaise with other parts of the service and GPs and non NHS organisations wherever applicable.
-To liaise with the community and Inpatient services as appropriate to facilitate the smooth handover of patients between services.
-To participate in Mental Health Assessment for patients opened to the Intensive Service
-To supervise and support resident doctors on placement within the Intensive Service team

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- Additional Clinical Qualification
Eligibilty
Essential criteria
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of confirmation of appointment
- Completed a minimum of 12 years medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification
- A minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years’ experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including overseas will also be accepted.
- Section 12 Approval (or within 6 months of appointment) if not have Approved Clinician (AC) status/approval and be on the AC register
