Emergency Department Unit Manager

Job overview

In this integral role, you will work closely with the ED Matron to provide assurance high standards of patient care are delivered in the ED and ensure smooth daily operations take place. 

The Emergency Department (ED) Unit Manager is accountable and responsible for the twenty-four-hour care delivery and management of the ED, including the supervision of staff and students. To achieve this, you will work in a supervisory capacity and will lead and manage team performance to enhance patient experience, improve patient outcomes and contribute to the organisational priorities of improved patient flow and ensure safe and effective deployment of the nursing workforce.

Main duties of the job

You will act as an exemplar role model delivering high standards of care through always demonstrating care and compassion. 

You will drive standards ensuring key performance indicators are worked within and support staff to achieve emergency medicine performance metrics to optimise patient experience, care and journey in the department this includes: 4 hour performance, time to initial assessment and ambulance off load and improve staff health and well being and the environment in which we work.
