The Upper Gastrointestinal Department has an exciting opportunity for a Maternity cover Band 6 Upper GI Cancer Nurse Specialist to join our established Hepatobiliary (HPB) team caring for those affected by a HPB cancer

We are looking for an enthusiastic registered nurse with evidence of post registration experience and professional development who can work flexibly within a dynamic environment with accuracy, ensuring safe and effective delivery of care. You will be willing to develop an in-depth knowledge of the above specialism and demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients and all members of the multi-disciplinary team. You will have a passion for patient centred care supporting patients and their family’s psychological and emotional needs throughout the complex diagnostic and treatment pathways

In return we provide a tailored induction, on-going development supported by MDT colleagues and regular clinical supervision.  You will also have the opportunity to work within the brand new, state of the art Dyson Cancer Centre which opened earlier this year. Main duties of the job

You will work alongside the senior HPB clinical nurse specialist assisting in the delivery of high quality Upper GI services, covering HPB cancer patient pathways.

You will participate in and contribute to advancing the body of knowledge through education, research and audit as well as developing practice. You will play a key role within the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure a seamless, co-ordinated and timely approach to care.

The role requires an innovative nurse with a sound vision of nursing and a commitment to providing the best patient care. In collaboration with your line manager and team you will act as key worker for a caseload of patients demonstrating a high level of clinical decision-making and an ability to monitor and improve standards of care.
