Fetal Wellbeing Lead Midwife

Are you a practicing midwife who is interested in joining the maternity services based at the Royal United hospital, Bath.  The successful applicant would work within the Quality and patient safety team as the Fetal Wellbeing Lead Midwife?

 

This an exciting new role in which you can demonstrate clinical leadership and midwifery expertise, actively promote team working, and psychological safety. The successful candidate will support compliment, and collaborate, with obstetric colleagues and clinical midwives to ensure that care provided pertaining to the assessment of fetal wellbeing is safe, of a high standard, and in line with local and national standards.

Rated ‘Outstanding’ in our latest CQC review, our service consists of an acute and 2 standalone birth centres. We also have 2 community midwifery led hubs, a 24 hour Maternity Assessment Unit and are in the planning stages of an alongside midwifery unit at the RUH site. Provide a visible, accessible, and supportive presence, acting as a professional role model by providing leadership and support 

Provide specialist advice and support on fetal wellbeing matters in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary / multi-agency teams

Managerial and professional accountability for the effective delivery of care for women/people 

Promote the highest standards of audited research based clinical care

Work in collaboration with colleagues to triangulate the service insights pertaining to fetal monitoring, providing assurance to the leadership team of embedment and maintenance of the local and national standards

People who work together should train together – therefore Fetal wellbeing Midwife will work in collaboration with the Obstetric Fetal monitoring lead to develop a comprehensive Training Needs Analysis which meets the local training needs of the service

To provide clinical midwifery support during periods of escalation

To undertake line management responsibilities

Qulifications

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • Registered midwife with NMC
  • Significant experience at band 6 or above.
  • Teaching and assessing qualification
Meini prawf dymunol
  • Post-registration qualification preferably in speciality area.
  • Quality Improvement course or qualification

Knowledge and expereince

  • Experience in service user feedback including analysing data.
  • Understanding of the principles and application of Clinical Governance.
  • Significant relevant clinical and management experience at band 6 or above in a range of care settings.

  • Experience in complaint investigation and response.
  • Evidence of supporting/leading upon a quality improvement initiative
  • Experience of line management
