Epilepsy Specialist Nurse
Band 7
Job overview
An exciting opportunity at the Royal United Hospital has arisen to join the Neurology Nurse Team either as a Band 7 Epilepsy Specialist Nurse.
We are looking for a motivated enthusiastic Adult or Learning Disabilities Registered Nurse to come and work in the Epilepsy team alongside the current Band 7 Epilepsy Specialist Nurse. There will be plenty of learning opportunities in the area of Neurology, Epilepsy and Specialist Nursing. We will consider experienced Band 6 applicants or those already working within a Band 7 role. Although expert Epilepsy knowledge is not essential, we would like you to have excellent communication skills and an understanding of the issues that can arise when managing a long-term health condition, including those with a Learning Disability. A neurology background may be helpful, but you may also have good experience in the emergency settings, or intensive care, that would make this job a good progression for your career.
Main duties of the job
The role aims to help deliver high quality specialist care to support patients with Epilepsy. Clinical responsibilities will include assisting with the running of nurse led clinics (including maternity epilepsy clinics, transition clinics), manning the epilepsy advice line, and supporting the Emergency Department with patients admitted following a seizure. We are looking for a motivated individual to support and help develop the service in conjunction with the Band 7 Epilepsy Specialist Nurse and Consultant Neurologists, along with the wider community-based teams.
