Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated part time  (30 hours a week) Orthoptist to join our friendly Orthoptic team on a permanent basis. This post will incorporate a wide range of pediatric Orthoptic and refraction clinics and adult Orthoptic clinics within the Royal United Hospital Bath with the opportunity to work in peripheral hospital sites within the role. The current post holder has an extended role in AntiVegF injecting and OCT reviewing. There is scope to extend the role with clinical need to give a diverse, interesting job role with training included.  We are a student placement site, therefore there's an expectation that the candidate be involved in teaching and supervision of the students within this role. 

Main duties of the job

To work autonomously as an Orthoptist undertaking highly specialised Orthoptic assessment, diagnosis and management.

To work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be working closely with the Optometrists, technicians and Ophthalmologists within the Ophthalmology department.

To undertake the role of clinical tutor for the department with responsibility for providing mentoring for orthoptic students on placement to the department.

Applicants must have a degree/ diploma in Orthoptics and current registration with the HCPC.
