Lead Aseptic Services Technician

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to lead the Aseptic services unit within Pharmacy Department at the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust.

We are looking for a registered pharmacy technician with the GPhC who has experience and knowledge of working within an Aseptic setting with management experience to lead the Aseptic team, made up of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants.

This role is part of the senior management team and is critical to the operational day to day running and future development of the Aseptic Services Unit.

The successful candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team, enthusiasm to promote new ideas, determination to succeed in a challenging environment, the ability to remain calm under pressure and a commitment to future developments in Aseptics.

Main duties of the job

 

The main responsibilities of this role are:

  •  Working with the Aseptic Services Lead and Deputy Aseptic Services Lead to strategically manage and develop the aseptics workforce in response to service demands.

·         Working with the Aseptic Services Lead and Deputy Aseptic Services Lead to explore and develop commercial opportunities for the aseptic unit.

 

·         To act as technical lead for the aseptic service unit.

 

·         Work with the Aseptic Services Lead, Deputy Aseptic Services Lead, Quality Assurance (QA) Lead to develop and maintain a comprehensive training and revalidation programme for pharmacists, technicians and assistants working within the aseptic services unit.

 

·         Play an active and influential role in improving processes and implementing change.

 

·         Oversee stock management within the aseptic unit including the management of CMM and radiopharmacy computer systems.

 

·         Work with the Aseptic Services Lead, Deputy Aseptic Services Lead, Quality Assurance (QA) Lead in developing the aseptic services.

 

·         Assist and participate in external audits of the aseptic unit.

 

·         Act as an authorised Product Approver within the aseptics unit undertaking final check and approval of cytotoxics, monoclonal antibodies, parenteral nutrition and radiopharmaceuticals.

 

·         Act as a Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) within the aseptics unit.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered with the GPhC
  • NVQ 3 & BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent
  • Accredited product approver or willing to work towards
  • Management Qualification or willing to undertake
  • Expertise with learning and development
  • Relevant knowledge of aseptic services
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 4 in learning and development
  • NVQ Assessor accreditation
  • Communications training or qualification in adult teaching

Knowledge & experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience working in aseptic production as band 6 or above
  • Knowledge of GMP, QA, QC
  • Experience of service development
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in commercial licensed unit
  • Experience of working in radiopharmacy
