Team Lead Phlebotomy

Job overview

This Band 4 Team leader role is key in providing leadership and support to support our Phlebotomy team.

This role could be perfect for a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker or a health care worker who is looking for career progression and who is keen to learn, whilst being fully supported through our in-house training programme.

We are looking for an individual who has great organisational and IT skills. We would require you to demonstrate past experience of being able to manage a team efficiently with the ability to communicate effectively.  The candidate must  possess previous experience of managing a team.

If you have the desire to learn and understand the different systems used within the service and the passion to work in the NHS to make a difference , we want to hear from you. 

 

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to support the phlebotomy manager to deliver a safe and efficient phlebotomy service. The post holder will provide comprehensive leadership and support to the phlebotomy team, ensuring venepuncture is performed safely and efficiently on all patients requiring blood tests requested by the Trust and our community partners.

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate previous experience in managing a team
  • • Leadership and management qualification or equivalent level of experience.
  • Able to work to given schedules and rotas whilst executing their personal responsibilities with referral to Senior staff when required in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Physical Skills - manual dexterity to take blood
  • Physical effort to push trolleys.  The role involves standing and bending for long periods of time.
  • o Work flexibly between ward and outpatient areas as and when required,

  • You may also have previous experience in healthcare and have your Care Certificate, but if not, we will support you to achieve this within the first three months of joining us.
