Job overview

This is a key and rewarding role within our lung cancer service, supporting the multidisciplinary team to ensure that patient care remains at the heart of everything we do. As a Lung Cancer Navigator, you will play a vital part in guiding patients through their cancer pathway, helping to deliver a coordinated, compassionate and high-quality experience during what can be an incredibly challenging time.

You will need excellent organisational skills, along with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with a wide range of people. A caring, empathetic and sensitive approach is essential, as you will work closely with patients, their families and carers, offering reassurance, support and continuity throughout their journey.

Main duties of the job

The Lung Cancer Navigator will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that the lung cancer service remains consistently patient‑focused. The post holder will proactively support patients throughout their cancer pathway, helping to coordinate care and ensuring that each individual receives the best possible experience during what can be a challenging and distressing time.

The role requires excellent organisational skills to manage and prioritise patient pathways effectively, alongside strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise confidently with patients, families, carers and healthcare professionals. A caring, compassionate and sensitive approach is essential, as the post holder will provide reassurance, information and support to patients and those close to them throughout their journey.
