Join Our Team as a Support Typist – Trauma & Orthopaedics, RUH Bath

Are you an organised, detail-oriented individual with a passion for supporting clinical care behind the scenes? We’re looking for a Support Typist to join our friendly and dedicated Trauma & Orthopaedics secretarial team at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.

In this vital role, you’ll play a key part in helping us stay on top of our clinic correspondence—ensuring timely, accurate typing and editing of letters from consultants, specialist nurses, and registrars. Your work will directly support the smooth running of patient care and communication across the department.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Typing and editing clinical letters and documentation with precision and efficiency.
  • Supporting the wider nursing, clinical, and secretarial teams with administrative tasks.
  • Helping us maintain high standards of communication and documentation across the department.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual, with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude. They will be flexible and used to working in a pressurised environment towards tight deadlines. They will need to be proficient in Microsoft Word and will utilise the RUH computer systems to manage patient information

The role requires you to have a current right to work in the UK, which enables you to undertake the role without need of sponsorship. Under current UK immigration rules this role is not eligible for sponsorship and it is not possible for the Trust to sponsor applicants for a visa for this role.

  • Word Processing/Audio-Typing qualifications or RSA level II or equivalent
  • Good standard of English
