We are looking for an exceptional Psychologist to join our new specialist acute inpatient service for people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
Working alongside the Consultant and Lead Psychologist you will be instrumental in contributing to the design, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the new service.
In addition to shaping and delivering direct psychological assessment, formulation and intervention, you will take a lead role in supporting staff wellbeing and ensuring co-production is at the core of our service delivery.
You will provide supervision to other members of the Psychology team, and support the wider staff team in the delivery of appropriate psychologically and trauma-informed care planning and treatment models.
In addition you will be expected to contribute to and lead on service development, audit and research, working with relevant partner organisations such as academic institutions, to help us realise our vision of being a centre of excellence.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychological assessment, formulation and intervention within the inpatient service. This will include the delivery of specialist individual, group and systemic intervention, as well as providing consultation, interventions and training for carers and staff.
They will be expected to provide supervision to trainee and pre-qualified psychologists.
They will also contribute to service design, audit and research. The service has close working relationships with local Universities, including direct links with the local Doctoral Programme for Clinical Psychology.
Individualised support will be provided to develop your knowledge and skills, as part of the expanding expertise in learning disabilities and neurodiversity within AWP.

Essential criteria
- • Doctoral Clinical Psychology qualification or equivalent.
- • HCPC Registered
- • Post qualification and further specialist training in specified specialist intervention.
- • Clinical supervision/ consultation with other professionals.
- • Knowledge of relevant Legislation e.g. MH Act, Capacity Assessment, NHS Long term plan
- • Psychological assessment and intervention skills and knowledge.
- Experience of delivering training
Desirable criteria
- • Relevant R&D or clinical audit work post qualification
- • Clinical supervision of clinical psychology trainees.
