AWP are delighted to offer an opportunity to join our Leadership Development team at an exiting time. The NHSE Leadership and Management Framework is poised to be launched and we at AWP are keen to use it well and to ensure that our supervisors leaders and managers are able to support our ambition to become a Great Place to Work.

This dynamic role will allow you to work creatively within a small team, designing and delivering training programmes and solutions to a range of staff from entry to senior levels.

The delivery will include some face to face opportunities across our footprint in Bristol, north Somerset, south Gloucester, Banes, Swindon and Wiltshire.

This role would suit somebody with a commitment to compassionate, collaborative leadership and who has used coaching or a coaching style with good effect during their professional journey.

Finally we are looking for someone who works collaboratively with services and teams and builds positive relationships quickly.

Main duties of the job

The overall purpose of the role is to support the implementation of integrated, inclusive nonclinical development offer for leadership and management supporting AWP as a 'Great Place to Work'.

Reporting to the Head of Learning and development and working in  a small dedicated team, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of excellent leadership development programmes and strategies.  This will include:

Supporting the designing, implementation and evaluation of development solutions to meet the organisational leadership, management and team development needs.

To also support the development of staff experience initiatives that promote an improved inclusive staff culture.

Facilitating the development of managers and their teams and supporting bespoke development activities according to need, and within organisational objectives.

Supporting and designing initiatives to support the 'Great Place to Work' ambition.

Working collaboratively and co-operatively with others in AWP and across the ICS  and nationally to help develop a workforce with the skills, knowledge and competence as per the new NHSE Leadership and management framework and to  deliver safe effective patient care to enhance the quality of service delivery

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To build and sustain effective relationships across the AWP and the wider ICS and other systems partners to support the collaboration and implementation of all initiatives. 

To deliver practical training as required on the basis of the analysis of learning need and the requirements of the business, as directed by the Leadership and Management Development Manager. 

To design and manage robust and accurate monitoring and evaluation systems for learning and development events and activities using that material to make recommendations and changes for improvement as appropriate. 

Ensure that all training is inclusive and pect, 

Integrity, Diversity and Excellence (PRIDE), and reinforces its commitment to principles of recovery. 

Ensure that all training programmes are reviewed at least once a year, in 
collaboration with associate trainers where appropriate, reviewing and updating learning outcomes, content, and teaching methodologies. 

Work alongside colleagues to ensure the best use of emerging learning technologies. 

To support managers across the Trust in understanding their responsibilities in respect to management, leadership and staff experience, in accordance with Trust requirements, and to support them in this regard. 

To be an active part of the coaching network and to act as a coach to managers where indicated. 

Support the Leadership and Management Development Manager to work with managers in services and corporate departments to design, develop, deliver and evaluate (in terms of impact on business) activities, such as facilitated staff events, that relate to identified business need. 

Contribute to the overall organisational development activity, as required, including participation in Trust-wide strategic OD initiatives. 

To support the development of an annual management and leadership development programme and secure and manage resources as required. 

Support the development of bids for external funding and internal business cases for specific projects and initiatives. 

Take responsibility for prioritising own workload, and ensuring that work objectives are delivered to agreed timescales and standards, giving and receiving advice and support when needed, providing input at meetings appropriately and contributing positively to team motivation and morale.

Person specification

Education & Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (eg education, leadership etc)
  • Qualification in Teaching or training (or equivalent experience)
  • Coaching Qualification (or relevant experience)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within area of occupational competence
  • Confidence in working with IT systems
Desirable criteria
  • Experienced and qualified in the use of leadership and team diagnostic tools e.g. MBTI

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of having managed an area of work
  • Evidence of recent teaching, training and facilitation experience
  • Experience of training in a variety of settings; group sizes
  • Experience of coaching within the workplace
  • Experience of using e learning or managed learning environments
  • Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of staff management within last five years
  • Up to date knowledge of the Healthcare environment

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • A knowledge of staff experience, leadership, management and team development that would enable the post holder to deliver first and mid development programmes.
  • Design and production of training materials
  • Up-to-date knowledge of related fields e.g. leadership, wellbeing, organisational development, recognition, equality and diversity
  • Ability to persuade, influence and negotiate with others working within and outside the Health and Education sector
  • Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues at all levels across the Trust
  • Confidence in using Windows based IT systems: N365, Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint and digital learning tools
