Job overview
We are looking to recruit a Psychological Therapist to the established Mental Health-Wellbeing Integrated Network Team (MINT) in South Glos. We welcome applicants with professional qualifications in Psychology, Nursing, OT or Social Work with substantial experience of delivering psychological therapies. As part of the Community Mental Health Framework, we are delivering an exciting transformation programme to support people with mental health needs to get the help they need efficiently, and close to home.
The team aims to meet the needs of service users that fall through the gap between primary and secondary care services. You will provide psychological therapies to service users as well as formulations and consultation, to multidisciplinary professionals both within the team and to partner agencies. You will have close links with the Local Psychological Therapies Service. This new and exciting role will be well supported by a range of opportunities for continue professional development, accreditation in CBT, DBT and EMDR. An interest in the application of Critical Community Psychology principles into this post will be welcomed. As a service we are commitment to address issues of structural inequalities and oppression that often create barriers in the provision of equitable care for the service user groups in the Locality.
Main duties of the job
- Align as a ‘core’ member of the MINT offering formulation, assessment and treatment based on psychological models theories and practices with the communities individuals, families and communities in the South Glos. geographical area.
- Provide psychological input into the multidisciplinary MINT and to offer consultation, supervision and teaching to professional colleagues to the applicant’s level of experience.
- To have an interest in providing a range of brief to medium term psychological interventions on an individual and or group basis.
- To work alongside our wider networks of psychological provision within VCSE and Secondary Mental Health.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical
1. To offer highly specialist assessments and consultations to people with complex mental health difficulties.
2. To provide psychological therapy to individual persons and groups.
3. To liaise and work jointly with with MINT team and wider network, providing consultancy, case management and providing expert advice.
4. To use highly specialist psychological knowledge and skills to contribute to the supervision of psychological assistants, trainees and other members of the MINT team as appropriate to the role.
5. To participate in the MINT Multi-Disciplinary Discussions
6. To participate in clinical supervision and caseload supervision arrangements.
7. To maintain accurate records and to monitor clinical workload using agreed systems.
Professional
1. To work within the Ethical Principles and Code of Professional Conduct of the registered. Professional body. To work using best and evidence based practice.
2. To participate in professional meetings where agreed.
3. To be aware of and adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures.
Clinical Governance
1. To support and participate in multidisciplinary clinical audit in the service.
2. To promote the use of effective interventions in the service.
3. To liaise with other disciplines and agencies to ensure that best practice is shared.
Training and Staff Development
1. To offer training in psychological approaches to a wide range of other staff including staff in the multidisciplinary team and to staff from other parts of the service.
2. To collaborate with colleagues to develop and offer training courses.
3. To agree a plan for personal development with the CPI line manager and participate in an annual review.
Research and Development
1. To encourage a culture of evidence based practice in all parts of the Service.
2. To contribute to MINT reporting of activity.
Most challenging part of this role

Essential criteria
- Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology or equivalent Mental Health professional qualification (in Mental Health Nursing/OT/Social Work with professional body registration)
- Experience of delivering Psychological Therapies interventions with group or individuals within mental health and or primary care settings (CBT/DBT compassion focussed therapy or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary settings with complex presentations
- Interest in working with complex presentations in Primary Care (CPTSD, mental health and substance misuse co-morbidity; bipolar presentations within primary care, etc)
- Ability to manage crisis whilst supporting individuals and their systems to make sense of their difficulties in the context of their social circumstances
- Ability to engage in service evaluations and audits
HCPC registered
