Senior Project Manager

Band 7

Job overview

The vision of Health Innovation West of England is for all communities across our geography to benefit faster from the best innovations in health and care.

We will achieve this by collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders across our health and care systems and the life sciences sector to identify opportunities for the discovery, development and deployment of exciting new health and care solutions, that will support our drive to improve population health through reduced inequalities.

We have three 12-month secondment opportunities, each to lead and support the delivery of our ongoing work programme, as we extend our role at the forefront of innovation in the NHS.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading one or more complex, high-profile project, spanning the innovation spiral, overseeing all aspects of project delivery. One role will be supporting maternity and neonatal improvements in the West of England.

Additionally, there will be opportunities to work with senior colleagues within local health and care organisations to facilitate defining specific problems, identifying potentially viable solutions, either through horizon scanning for proven alternatives to adopt, or supporting the design and development of bespoke solutions through work with external innovators, and leading the implementation of new ways of working.

For this specific recruitment opportunity applicants will have to meet the following criteria:

§  You must currently work for an NHS organisation

§  You will be expected to have experience of successfully leading the planning and delivery of a health or care project

§  You must have your line manager's approval to a proposed secondment.

Main duties of the job

The role holder will be required to lead and contribute to multiple projects and programmes of work simultaneously, across our locally and nationally commissioned work programmes. It is therefore essential that role holders maintain the standards and processes related to programme and project management within the Health Innovation West of England.

Additionally, the role holder will be accountable for ensuring appropriate governance and reporting arrangements are established and adhered to consistently with the programme management arrangements of the Health Innovation West of England, whilst ensuring there are effective information flows.

Working for our organisation

The Health Innovation West of England is one of 15 organisations within the Health Innovation Network, established and commissioned by NHS England and the Office of Life Sciences to spread proven health innovation at pace and scale. We connect and collaborate with our local NHS and care organisations and universities, and with industry partners, the third sector, and researchers to support transformation across whole health and social care systems, with a clear focus on improving outcomes for citizens.

We are an NHS organisation and employment with Health Innovation West of England is through the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust.

With headquarters at the University West of England, Frenchay campus in Bristol, we support agile working including the opportunity to work from home, albeit with a firm expectation all team members can attend meetings and work from our office on a regular basis. Additionally, you will be required to travel occasionally to other locations within our geography and nationally for in-person meetings and events.

We value a workforce where people’s varied backgrounds and experiences bring different perspectives and fresh ideas resulting in the development and spread of transformational innovations. We therefore welcome applications from diverse communities to ensure our team is dynamic, vibrant and reflects the populations we serve.
