Full Time 37.5 Hour Post.

Based at Green Lane Hospital in Devizes, you will support the Facilities  Manager with the day to day operation of the Hotel Services function across the site.

This is a busy and varied role with lots of interaction with people so good communication skills are vital.  You will also need great organisational skills and experience of managing people would be an advantage.

Hotel Services provide catering, portering and housekeeping services to service users, staff and visitors across the site. This also includes the preparation, delivery and service of service users’ food and beverages.

You will be expected to demonstrate a flexible attitude to your work to meet the needs of the wards and the service users.

Main duties of the job

To provide a catering, housekeeping, porter and linen service to Fountain Way Hospital

  1. To assist the Facilities Manager in the recruitment of Hotel Services staff as required to ensure compliance with Trust Policy.
  2. To ensure all staff complete relevant induction and training requirements for their posts within the department. To assist the Facilities Manager to review all housekeepers, catering and portering staff in relation to competencies, training needs and career development. To ensure all records are kept up to date.
  3. To ensure the safe storage/handling of all food items including Cook-Chill/Cook-Freeze meals, the correct regeneration and service of these meals, ensuring compliance with Trust Policy and current legislation.
  4. The safe handling of all monies taken in accordance with Trust Policy.
  5. To maintain a hygienic and clean condition of the service user environment providing supervision to Hotel Services staff.
  6. To oversee and coordinate Hotel services staff and to assist in the delivery of  housekeeping, catering and stores on a day to day basis.
  7. To report all sightings of pest issues to the designated site contact.
  8. Reporting maintenance faults to the maintenance provider.
  9. Ensure all information regarding service users and staff is kept confidential.
  10. Liaise with the Facilities Operational Manager, Wards Managers and other Ward Staff, Departmental staff, or other agencies as required or requested by the Facilities Operational Manager/ Facilities Manager.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main Duties

  1. To provide a catering, housekeeping, portering and linen service to Fountain Way Hospital
  • Healthroster – managing timesheets /annual leave/sickness/ensuring entries are correct and match timesheets, keeping HR up to date.
  • Catering/Cleaning – responsible for maintaining national standards.
  • Training for role – requirements for suitable training and qualifications in catering/cleaning.
  • Staff mandatory training compliance.
  • Storage/handling of food compliance/checking regen sheets.
  • Rosters – manage staffing/annual leave/sickness to ensure shifts covered.
  • Ability to travel between sites to check other staff and works/audits – Use of Pool Car.
  1. To assist the Facilities Operational Manager  in the recruitment of Hotel Services staff as required to ensure compliance with Trust Policy.
  • Recruitment – use of Trac, placing ad’s, shortlisting, interviewing / follow up of recruitment paperwork, training of staff. Managing of the process, chasing up paperwork to get staff started within a reasonable time.
  1. To ensure all staff complete relevant induction and training requirements for their posts within the department. To assist Facilities Operational Manager/Facilities Managers to review all housekeepers, catering and portering staff in relation to competencies, training needs and career development. To ensure all records are kept up to date.
  • Managing staff supervisions/appraisals and holding team meetings.
  1. To ensure the safe storage/handling of all food items including Cook-Chill/Cook-Freeze meals, the correct regeneration and service of Cook-Chill/Cook-Freeze meals, ensuring compliance with Trust Policy and current legislation.
  • Storage / handling of food compliance/checking regen sheets.
  • Ordering of Food and other products (chemicals/consumables) as per authorised lists etc.
  1. The safe handling of all monies taken in accordance with Trust Policy
  2. To maintain a hygienic and clean condition of the service user environment providing supervision to Hotel Services staff.
  • Audits – Responsible for managing of Catering and Cleaning Audits, ensuring compliance, use of relevant IT equipment, reporting issues/following up on actions raised/maintaining paper trail of actions/compliance.
  1. To oversee and coordinate Hotel services staff and to assist in the delivery of portering, housekeeping and catering on a day to day basis.
  • Rosters – manage staffing/annual leave/sickness to ensure shifts covered.
  1. To report all sightings of pest issues to the designated site contact.
  2. Reporting maintenance faults to the maintenance provider. Reporting of any estate issues to the relevant person so this can be rectified.
  3. Ensure all information regarding service users and staff is kept confidential.
  4. Liaise with the Facilities Manager, Wards Managers and other Ward Staff, Departmental staff, or other agencies as required or requested by the Facilities Operational Manager / Facilities Manager.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with team.
