Job overview

The Intensive team provides assessment and home treatment to individuals and their careers as an alternative to hospital admission, relapse prevention, short term psychosocial work, crisis support and help to provide facilitated early discharge from hospital.

The team operates 0730 - 2200, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Therefore the successful candidate will be expected to be able to undertake a shift pattern of working.

Mental Health Workers in this team offer a variety of psychosocial interventions to service users, whilst working under the guidance of registered practitioners, so there is also the expectation of lone working at times. We have a shared caseload, so you are not required to provide care co-ordination.

Main duties of the job

Applicants will enjoy supporting others struggling with their mental health and in personal crisis, under the support of qualified members of staff. You will be part of a team that provides home treatment as an alternative to hospital admission. You will thrive taking autonomy whilst providing support, using your communication skills and empathy.

You will be welcomed into the team and supported to develop your skills in the post. You will be part of a team who is dedicated to providing support to people at their most difficult moments.

You will have experience in working in mental health and be able to show an understanding of caring for people experiencing a mental health crisis and have a range of psychosocial skills.

You will be supported to develop and extend your range of skills both by the team and the trust.

We are looking for someone who has successfully undertaken the NVQ Level 3 in Mental Health or equivalent qualification or experience, is enthusiastic and has experience of working with people and families in distress due to mental health crisis.

You will be required to be empathetic, non-judgemental, and reflective and have strong communications skills to support people in distress, as well as being able to work under pressure.
