Employer heading
Band 6 Physiotherapist - Bristol (South Gloucestershire)
Band 6
Job overview
We are looking to recruit an experienced Physiotherapist to join our South Glos Later Life Therapies Team offering Physiotherapy to people in their own homes in the community receiving a mental health service from AWP, as well as contributing to the inpatient team on Aspen Ward, Callington Road Hospital. Referrals are primarily from the community mental health team for older adults, who offer a service to people over 65 as well as frailer younger adults or those with a dementia diagnosis. We also see people under the care of the Memory Service and the Specialised Care Home and Enhanced Dementia Service (SCHEDS).
This is a rewarding and varied role with opportunities for personal development and contributing to service development initiatives. You will work alongside an experienced Physiotherapy colleague and the wider Physiotherapy inpatient hub based at Callington Road Hospital. Support, networking and CPD opportunities are also offered across the wider Physiotherapy team trust-wide.
The team covers the whole of South Gloucestershire and the inpatient ward in Brislington, Bristol therefore driving license is essential for this role.
Right to Work in the UK: Please note this role is 30 hours a week therefore unfortunately the income does not meet the minimum pay threshold for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application, as the organisation is unable to support sponsorship for this post.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the job involves providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and interventions to identified service users in the South Gloucestershire Later Life service. The physiotherapy service uses physical means and approaches to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being. This includes balance, postural, strength and movement advice, providing falls assessment and falls prevention advice, assessing for walking aids and other specialist equipment, and pain management.
Visiting services users in their homes involves environment and safety assessments and providing support and advice to families and carers. Additionally it involves liaising with community team members and other services, together with referring to relevant community groups and activities. The role includes some input and advice to local care homes and providing, and supporting physiotherapy students with opportunity to support the role-emerging placements.

Our staff and teams work incredibly hard delivering services across more than 90 locations, covering 2,200miles, to more than 1.8million people.
At AWP we actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those with disabilities and from the LGBTQ+ community. We want people to bring their unique blend of experiences, backgrounds, perspectives and knowledge to AWP, as diversity makes us stronger.
