Could you be the inspiring Activities Co-ordinator we are looking for?

We are looking to recruit an innovative, motivated and enthusiastic activity coordinator to promote and provide a range of activities across Amblescroft South Ward. 

Main duties of the job

Amblescroft South is a 20 bedded NHS short stay unit based in Salisbury which  provides short term assessment and support to people with Dementia and other mental health problems.

Our goal is to enable our service users to make the best use of their remaining abilities to gain self - respect, to be able to make choices and to keep hold of their independence. We know the importance of seeing the whole person, listening to what they are saying through their behaviour and placing their feelings at the forefront of their care.

The post holder will work as an integral part of the Multi-disciplinary team to provide meaningful and appropriate activities to individuals on the ward.

The successful candidate will need to be passionate about dementia care and demonstrate their enthusiasm and motivation to make a real difference working within our trust values.

They must be able to work as part of a team but also under their own initiative to provide and co-ordinate activities. Alongside this they must inspire and promote provision of patient activities amongst the broader team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

It is expected that the post holder will work shifts (7.5 hours) between the hours of 9am and 9pm Monday to Sunday. This would include evening shifts and a  minimum of 2 weekends per month. Please see attached job description for full details of this role.

  • Previous experience of working within mental health
  • Experience of self directing working day
  • Experience of enabling a person with Dementia
  • Completion of Level 3 NVQ /Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
  • Experience within Activities Co-ordinator role
  • Qualifications within Dementia Care
