Job overview

We are looking for a Band 7 Clinical Practitioner to join the AWP CAMHS Eating Disorder Hub. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, dynamic and motivated team of individuals, who are passionate about supporting Children & Young People (CYP) and their families in recovering from eating disorders.

The successful candidate will be expected to offer consultation and work alongside the eating disorder lead to ensure assessment and treatment is equitable across BNSSG.

You will be working across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire alongside CAMHS community teams. This post may entail travelling to meet the requirements of the role, therefore a driving license and access to a car / ability to confidently travel across the region is essential.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the ED HUB and provide additional clinical expertise to the locality ED teams.

To provide evidence based interventions including family based work, parent support group work and multi-family therapy.

To provide clinical supervision and consultation to teams.

To support and engage in research and audits for service development.

To provide training to external services where appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide a specialist clinical service including assessment and treatment within the various Eating Disorder teams across BNSSG, using advanced levels of skill, for families and groups.

To advise teams in relation to service users complex needs and the range of interventions available. 

To carry out assessments and consultation to inform and enable comprehensive information gathering to establish treatment plans for service users who present with complex mental health difficulties alongside their eating disorder. 

Regularly review and evaluate the therapy including levels of risk as part of the CPA process. 

To co-facilitate parents groups and Multi Family Therapy Groups.

Communicate with empathy and sensitivity with service users and their carers, with an awareness and understanding of their problems and, often complex, issues. 

To be responsible for own specialist caseload working within Trust policies, protocols and guidelines. 

To record service user’s progress in Iaptus patient records, write reports and input statistical date. 

To engage in reflective practice and clinical supervision and to offer clinical supervision to junior colleagues, as required. To arrange and attend professional, team and specialist clinical supervision as appropriate to caseload. 

To support clinical lead in ensuring the Eating Disorder pathway is equitable and standardised across BNSSG

Person specification

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Post graduate qualification in a registered profession (for example: Nursing/ Social Work/ Family Therapy) Registered with the NMC, Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), the UK Council for Counselling Psychotherapy (UKCP) or equivalent Registered and working within the Code of Practice for their Professional body.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with young people with eating disorders and associated serious and complex Mental Health difficulties Knowledge and Experience of working as part of a team Good organisational, administrative and IT skills
  • Able to work as an autonomous practitioner responsible for own specialist caseload within a team Able to form professional relationships and working partnerships with managers and other staff Will have a high level of communication and interpersonal skills to carry out assessments and therapy sessions Able to manage and contain emotionally challenging situations.
Desirable criteria
  • Further post graduate training related to eating disorders
  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • Experience of offering supervision and training to colleagues and other agencies
