This is a specialist role for a practitioner who is experienced in working with psychotic disorders.  

The role will involve taking the clinical lead in the psychotic pathway, being able to manage a small complex caseload if deemed necessary as well as offering the other staff within this pathway guidance and support in managing their caseloads.  The post holder will be responsible for caseload supervision for staff in the psychotic pathway.

The post holder will need to have formal qualification and experience in delivering psychosocial  interventions for service users who have psychotic illnesses as well as a vast knowledge of medication management.

Main duties of the job

Clinical leadership of the psychotic pathway, including service development projects.

Rolling out and being involved in the delivery of interventions for the psychotic pathway, in line with national changes as part of the Community Mental Health Framework.

Overseeing the safe management and monitoring of medication that is used within the psychotic pathway. 

Holding a small complex caseload of service users.

Caseload management for staff working within the psychotic pathway.

Cross cover for other band 7 posts (senior practitioner / manager) within the team as required.

Professional registration

Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental Nurse (RMN), or allied health professional (e.g. social work / OT)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial post-registration experience gained working in front-line services, undertaking assessments and delivering therapeutic interventions including in the most complex clinical cases
  • Demonstrates a highly developed understanding of the principles of recovery and the role of secondary mental health services in the delivery of care and able to show how this has been delivered in practice
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leadership/management
