Job overview

Based in the Coast Resource Centre in sunny Weston-super-Mare this role handles all incoming calls to site, assisting callers in reaching the most appropriate person between 9am-5pm Thursday and Friday. 

Suited to someone approachable, friendly and compassionate you will be the first person our Service Users will talk to so a calm demeanour is necessary.

You will be confident in navigating our patient database to provide answers to basic queries and able to communicate via the most efficient method to pass on messages.

An interest in Mental Health Services is beneficial as you will learn the different teams in your Locality and what they provide to assist in directing calls.

This location benefits from free on-site parking and great links to the M5 and, with Worle train station within a few moments walk and an abundance of nearby amenities.

Main duties of the job

  • First point of contact for phone calls to clinical teams at sites; transferring calls, taking accurate messages and escalating as appropriate following protocols.
  • Meeting and greeting patients and visitors.
  • Advising clinicians when their patients have arrived.
  • Room bookings.
  • Opening and closing the buildings.
  • Making sure the clinic rooms have everything they need.
  • Sorting the post.
  • Signing for deliveries.
  • Reporting building defects.
  • Supporting receptionist and providing reception cover.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be supported in your role by the North Somerset Area Site Coordinator, and passionate and friendly colleagues both in support services and the wider Facilities Management team.

The post holder will be part of the reception team based at the Coast Resource Centre in Worle, Weston Super Mare, and will act as the first point of contact over the telephone for callers looking to reach the clinical teams based on site. The call handler will transfer callers to the appropriate staff members, take accurate messages, and provide information to callers and staff.

The post holder will also provide cover for the reception desk, greeting visitors face to face and supporting with administrative tasks. The role will include use of bespoke IT systems including telephony software.

In this role, the post holder will be speaking to service users, healthcare professionals, external agencies, emergency services, members of the public and more.

Training will be provided in respect of the role.
