Due to additional investment an opportunity has arisen for a flexible and enthusiastic clinical psychologist committed to working with people with severe and enduring mental health needs to join our service.    Applications will also be considered from suitably qualified CBT therapists. You will work closely with the North Somerset Recovery Team as part of the Psychological Therapies Service.

North Somerset PTS services work across all community, acute and inpatient services within North Somerset. The service is staffed by a multidisciplinary team comprising of clinical psychologists, arts psychotherapists, family therapists CBT therapists, psychotherapists and CAPs and works closely with other services in the Locality.  

We are a friendly and supportive team, who are highly valued within local services. Within PTS, psychologists are professionally managed with good supervision and peer support arrangements.  There is good access to CPD and the Department has strong links with local training courses.

Weston-super-Mare and Clevedon are thriving seaside towns within easy commuting distance of Bristol and Taunton, with convenient access to the M5 motorway. Weston-super-Mare is a growing, multicultural area offering numerous amenities, beautiful coastline, and the Mendip Hills. The location is ideal for those who enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle while remaining within easy reach of Bristol and Taunton. The area also boasts a number of outstanding Ofsted-rated schools.

You will be providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy and supporting recovery team staff in delivering psychological interventions under supervision.  The ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams will be essential to developing your role. You will need to be well organised with the ability to prioritise your work according to clinical need and liaise effectively with team colleagues and professionals in other agencies.

  • Provide a psychology service to the designated team, including assessment and therapy for individuals and groups as appropriate.
  • Offer specialist consultancy to multidisciplinary teams and other agencies providing care for the client group.
  • Participate in generic team duties as agreed by the operational manager and Psychology Lead, according to the needs of the service.
  • Engage in clinical and caseload supervision arrangements provided by the Psychology Service.
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor clinical workload using agreed systems.
  • Ensure timely recording of all data required by the Trust.
  • Support the full implementation of CPA, acting as care coordinator as appropriate to the needs of the service.

Professional:

  • Adhere to HCPC policies and procedures.
  • Fully observe the BPS (2009) Code of Conduct and the DCP Generic Professional Practice Guidelines (2008).
  • Be aware of, adhere to, and where appropriate contribute to the formulation and review of Trust, Area, and Clinical Psychology Service policies and procedures.
  • Participate in local psychology meetings and Trust-wide meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintain and develop high standards of psychology practice by engaging in continuing professional development and collaborative working/networking with counselling and clinical psychology colleagues.
  • Participate in an annual performance appraisal.

  • Maintenance of appropriate professional registration with HCPC/ BABCP.
