Post:              Consultant Physician with Special Interest in Elderly and General Internal  Medicine

Salary:          £79,860 - £107,668 – Subject to experience


This is a great opportunity to work as part of the Care of the Elderly service, which sits within the Division of Medicine.  You will join a team of 6 existing full time Elderly Medicine Consultants, with a diverse range of sub-specialty areas including post-acute care, delirium unit, orthogeriatrics, movement disorders, falls and community geriatrics.

The department has a fantastic reputation, with the results of the GMC Training Survey shown overall student placement satisfaction rate of 98%, and Geriatrics scoring the best in region and the 4th best nationally.

The salary for successful candidates will be negotiated dependent upon experience.  Overseas experience will be considered.

This 10 PA Consultant post, including participation in the unselected acute medical take, is based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, offering optimal early frontline assessment and management of patients presenting with specialist Elderly Medicine needs.

Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if in a training programme within the UK.  In accordance with the regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the GMC Specialist Register to be considered for a consultant appointment by the Advisory Appointments Committee.  Applicants must continue to hold a Licence to Practise.

We offer educationally supervised training opportunities and encourage learning and development using the NHS ePortfolio.  We work with our junior and middle grade teams to develop their skills and provide curriculum experience to achieve the necessary competencies.  There is a new deal compliant banded full shift rota system.

We are perfectly positioned, with the major regional centres of Nottingham, Leeds and Sheffield on our doorstep.  The Robin Hood International Airport is also in close proximity to the Trust, flying to destinations in Europe and the USA. There is access to delightful countryside in North Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire, excellent leisure facilities and low cost housing.
