Procurement Apprentice

Apprenticeship

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to start your procurement career in a supportive and forward-thinking NHS team. As a Procurement Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals involved in contract management and sourcing across a range of Corporate, Clinical, Inventory management and stores areas. You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting procurement processes across all stages of the lifecycle, managing data, and engaging with stakeholders and suppliers — all while developing vital analytical and administrative skills.

You’ll contribute to real projects, learning how to maintain systems, handle procurement documentation, and ensure high commercial standards are upheld across the Trust. No two days will be the same; one day you might be preparing documents for a new tender, and the next, moving boxes from one building to another.

This role is perfect for someone who’s organised, motivated, and ready to learn. You’ll be supported to complete the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Level 4 qualification alongside your role, with 20% of your time dedicated to off-the-job training and study. You'll be working in a team that values growth, curiosity, and collaboration — and where your development is part of our shared success.

If you're looking for a role where you can learn, grow, and make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you

Main duties of the job

This is a hands-on role designed to give you a full, practical introduction to NHS procurement. As a Procurement Apprentice, you’ll rotate across Corporate Procurement, Clinical Procurement, and Inventory Management and Stores — gaining insight into how each area contributes to patient care and organisational efficiency.

You’ll support colleagues with a wide range of tasks, including document preparation, data collation, contract file maintenance, supplier communications and meeting coordination. You’ll help manage procurement systems such as our e-tendering platform, ensuring data is accurate and records are kept secure. Over time, you’ll assist with benchmarking, market research and stakeholder engagement, developing your understanding of value-for-money decision-making.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you’ll work closely with experienced professionals who’ll support your learning and development. You’ll also complete the Level 4 Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualification, with 20% of your time dedicated to off-the-job study and training.

This role is ideal for someone who’s organised, curious, and eager to learn. It offers a rare opportunity to build real-world skills, gain a recognised qualification, and take the first step in a meaningful, rewarding career.
