Our service provides a full range of posture and mobility services to Doncaster residents issuing a range of equipment from simple through to complex and bespoke options.
We are looking to recruit a band 6 to our clinical team. We welcome applications from occupational therapy and physiotherapy colleagues. The position could alternatively be fulfilled by a rehabilitation engineer, clinical scientist, or nurse with appropriate experience willing to develop their skills in this setting.
If you have existing, or transferrable, experience we would love to hear from you. Equally we have an established structured development path to support the right candidate from band 5 to band 6. We are also able to support return to practice if you are looking to regain your HCPC registration.
We are a multidisciplinary team with integrated workshop and logistics teams onsite. We work to deliver an innovative service across Doncaster. We complete holistic assessments, meeting commissioned mobility needs directly, and providing access, via personal wheelchair budgets, to equipment that meets lifestyle goals.
We are a relatively unique as an almost entirely ageless healthcare service. We work with anybody with a long term wheeled mobility need.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
- Provide person centred and holistic assessments of clients mobility, postural and pressure care needs.
- Plan and organise own workload and support the work of others in the team, to provide a responsive service.
- Carry a caseload of clients eligible for NHS wheelchair provision. This could include simple manual provision, configurable lightweight or active user provision, powered wheelchairs, specialist buggies, postural management, and pressure care provision.
- Your caseload will be modified over time to reflect your development in post and you will enjoy a structured development path based around NWMF competencies.
- Assist in the operational management of the service and to participate in specific service developments relevant to the specialist area.
- Provide clinical education, training and advice to junior staff, students, assistants, and other members of the team

- Post graduate qualification in posture management
Knowledge and Skills

- Significant post graduate experience covering rotational posts in areas such as outpatients, neurology, paediatrics, elderly care, specialist wheelchair service or a related field.
- Knowledge of current best practice.
- Experience of supervising junior / support staff and students.
- An understanding of the principles of clinical governance.
- Understanding of professional conduct and confidentiality.
- Awareness of budgetary constraints.

- Knowledge of relevant legislation, eligibility criteria/policies and procedures.
- Experience of delivering training to colleagues in health and/or other agencies
- Previous use of computer-based data collection system
- Experience of research, audit, reflective practice, and outcome measures

- Ability to communicate complex information clearly to a variety of professionals and to patients and their families, overcoming barriers to communication including language, confusion, and anxiety.
- Proven organizational skills including time management and prioritisation to manage clinical and administrative workload.
- Confident user of computers and IT databases. Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft teams, Word, Excel and Power point.
- Demonstrable skill in clinical reasoning and problem solving for complex case management.
- Understanding of information governance and of the processes for sharing patient information across agencies.
- Understanding of the issues pertaining to clinical risk management, and ability for formulate plans to reduce risk.
- Physical fitness to move and handle patients within Trust guidelines and to travel to patients’ homes independently.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Leadership qualities, with the ability to influence and engage others in the delivery of service improvement initiatives.

- Demonstrate clinical knowledge of a broad range of conditions that lead to the requirement for provision of wheelchair equipment to support mobility and postural needs.
- Awareness of relevant guidelines and legislation and their application to practice.
- Demonstrate knowledge of professional registration requirements.
- Experience of completing complex assessment for the Evidence of supervision/appraisal of less experienced staff, students and assistants. provision of wheelchair equipment to meet clients postural and mobility needs across a range of conditions.
- Experience of pressure care management for wheelchair users.
