Occupational Therapist Vocational Rehabilitation

NHS AfC: Band 6

Job overview

An exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with an interest in vocational rehabilitation, health equity, and the wider social determinants of health.

We are looking for someone to deliver vocational pathways to enable people to participate in education, employment, and leisure occupations.

The right candidate will firmly believe in the importance of good work for good health and will be a strong advocate for equality and diversity, and person-centred approaches.

The role is varied, and receives referrals from mental health, learning disability, and physical health services (so strong case management skills and multi-agency working is essential)

You will offer a range of assessments, one-to-one & group interventions. You will work collaboratively with other departments and organisations to facilitate work placements, and will maintain close links with clinical teams, employment agencies, education providers, and the voluntary sector.

You will be embedded within Flourish - a social enterprise and thriving community hub. And you will form part of the Trusts Occupational Therapy “soft hub”, with access to clinical supervision, peer support & training.

If you have ever wanted to make a difference in the community, are able to think outside the box, and are committed to service quality and improvement, we would love to hear from you!

We would strongly encourage all applicants to contact us to discuss the role and arrange a visit to the site prior to interview.

Main duties of the job

To demonstrate excellence in clinical practice through assessment, intervention and evaluation of group and individual vocational rehabilitation and supported employment programs

To take a lead in the development of a programme of vocational placements enabling people to work towards vocational goals in line with current evidence based occupational therapy practice.

To train and supervise junior staff in supporting group and individual vocational placements.

To liaise with a range of external partners - statutory, voluntary and employers to develop further vocational opportunities for people to access in the wider community.

To lead on the development of partnership working with local and national organisations to create and enhance vocational opportunities for participants of Flourish vocational pathway.

You will use OT specific assessment tools and outcome measures and work within the framework of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO), to offer specific occupational therapy assessment and intervention.

You will be joining a great team of Community OTs that work in a Hub and Spoke model, for peer support and regular meetings and CPD Opportunities.
