Job overview

1 X 21 hour post available, to be worked on the 7 on 7 off roster primarily based on the Tickhill Road Hospital site.

Applicants must be able to achieve a high standard of cleanliness and provide a clean and safe hospital environment for staff, patients and visitors in accordance with the National Standards of Cleanliness and customer's care.

Catering service also provided to ward areas so experience in catering services desirable but not essential as full training will be given to the successful applicants.

 

Main duties of the job

This position will be to provide a cleaning service on one of the Trust’s mental health wards on the Doncaster site. 

 

Duties include but not limited to – Emptying of bins, vacuum cleaning, mopping, buffing/scrubbing of floors, damp dusting all furniture/fittings, replenishing and cleaning of all sanitary areas.

 

Catering service also provided on ward areas and the successful post holder will be required to serve breakfast, lunch and evening meals in addition to cleaning the ward environment.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics
  • Food Safety Level 2
  • Commit to completing a competency workbook within 12 months
  • Committed to complete a NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning and Support Services within 18 months of employment
Desirable criteria
  • Basic IT Level 1

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous cleaning and/or catering experience
  • Ability to use a computer to input data, send and receive emails, and undertake elearning
Desirable criteria
  • Working in a hospital or healthcare setting

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Basic Knowledge of Health & Safety
  • Food Safety Act 1990
  • National Standards of Cleanliness
Desirable criteria
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Domestic and clinical waste disposal procedures

Skills/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to understand and adhere to standards and procedures
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Possess excellent hygiene standards
  • Communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to operate cleaning machinery
