Job overview

Applicants must demonstrate a flexible approach, evolving around the needs of service users, their families and significant others. The role involves working as a team member, with the responsibility of a caseload across traditional boundaries of Adult and the voluntary sector services. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent team working skills, who is keen to develop their knowledge and skills in this area. You should be a competent and motivated practitioner with appropriate demonstrable experience. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing assessment and therapeutic intervention in the community including administering of depot medication. 

Main duties of the job

 PRINCIPAL DUTIES / MAIN TASKS.

·       Managing a team caseload under supervision in accordance with sound nursing practice and principles.

·       Undertaking regular supervision and PDR in accordance with Trust policy.

·       Promoting and Maintaining the highest standards and attitudes towards the care of patients / clients. Assisting colleagues in maintaining an effective and efficient service.

·       Assisting, developing, implementing and evaluating plans of care, ensuring therapeutic and recreational programmes for patients / clients individually and in groups, in the Community.

·       Ordering, storage, monitoring and administration of medication.

·       Liaison within the multi-disciplinary care team, including carers, voluntary agencies etc.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A relevant nursing qualification and NMC registration are required
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience within Mental health settings

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate experience either pre or post qualification in the field of mental health
Desirable criteria
  • Work in multi-disciplinary setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also without direct supervision.
  • Ability to administer medication in line with policy and in keeping with NMC standards
  • Able to work autonomously.
  • Good time management.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills in individual and group settings
  • High standards of literacy and IT skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in delivering psychosocial interventions
  • Knowledge of safeguarding

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and Care Act including other relevant legislation.
