Job overview

Responsible for Supervising all staff at Tickhill Road Hospital and out in the community premise, this includes the day to day running of domestic services.

Ensuring staff rotas are covered at all times, arrange staff cover when necessary, managing staff sickness, supervisions and ensuring mandatory sickness is kept up to date at all times. Completing cleanliness audits for all wards/areas.

Ensuring cleanliness is kept inline with the NHS national cleaning standards by auditing areas monthly. 

Main duties of the job

Staff Supervision, managing sickness absence, keeping up to date with Mandatory training, auditing areas monthly, completing staff PDR's, assisting management with any investigations/performance issues, day to day running of the domestic services

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 Cleaning Building and Interiors or equivalent time served experience
  • ILM Level 2 in first line management or equivalent qualification
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
  • Basic training in COSHH, Manual Handling and general Health & Safety
  • Basic IT qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of supervising a team
  • Working knowledge and understanding of risk assessment, COSHH, Manual Handling and general Health & Safety
  • Able to undertake a range of administrative tasks including accurate record keeping, ordering and stock keeping.
  • Ability to create and save documents using word, excel and outlook
Desirable criteria
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a healthcare environment.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • A sound understanding of Domestic Services and the importance of customer care.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of relevant Human Resource issues. i.e., Terms and Conditions of employment.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of National Standards of Cleanliness and appropriate cleaning practices.

  • Ability to supervise and lead a number of staff working a variety of work rosters and working hours
  • Ability to deliver a high-quality service to a range of locations
  • A good organiser with ability to prioritise, delegate and monitor service
  • Able to communicate effective both orally and in writing
  • Able to negotiate effectively with staff and customers to resolve problems and initiate changes
  • Self-motivated with a flexible approach
  • Confident and effective Supervisor able to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Self-motivated, able to work without supervision and possess a flexible approach to working
  • Service and customer focussed
  • Ability to motivate and organise staff
