Job overview

The Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), Children’s Care Group, School Age Immunisation Team (SAIS) require enthusiastic self- motivated first level nurses to support the team on an as and when basis to deliver the annual Seasonal Flu programme to children in schools from September – December each year. The post holder will be able to communicate with children of different ages to facilitate the safe administration of the Flu vaccine and will be expected to be able to travel to different schools across Doncaster.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with the School Age Immunisation Team to deliver immunisations predominately in schools but may be in community settings or home visits.  

You will be responsible for carrying out  the clinical duties necessary to deliver vaccinations., working with schools and team members to ensure  and programmes are delivered safely and effectively.   

You  will have positive, and effective working relationships with team members, other services within the Children’s Care Group, and schools.

You will possess the ability to represent the Trust positively and effectively in the delivery of the service.

  • Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of recent professional development
  • Experience of undertaking health assessments
  • Ability to use software packages appropriate to clinical care
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
Desirable criteria
  • Vaccination and Immunisation Training
  • Experience of working with children, young people and families
  • Knowledge of childhood immunisation programmes
  • Knowledge of ethical and legal principles of the immunisation programme
  • Understand and work within data protection policies and information governance
  • Knowledge of health and safety when working in a community setting
