Job overview

NHS Rotherham Talking Therapies  is a well-established, high performing, friendly service looking to recruit a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) who is dedicated and passionate about providing  high quality evidence-based psychological therapy to people with common mental health problems. 

The post-holder must have completed either a Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT) PWP course and have experience of working in a Primary Care setting, preferably a Talking Therapies service, and must hold or be working towards the relevant registration with the BABCP or BPS.  An equivalent Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Mental Health Care may also be considered. 

The post-holder will work within the NHS Rotherham Talking Therapies service based in Rotherham and provide evidence-based high volume, low intensity interventions to patients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression via face to face, telephone, video, typed therapy (e-clinic).  The post holder will also be expected to deliver group therapy. 

Please note that this post is NOT a remote only position and the post-holder will be expected to work from the office  base, as well as in various venues across the locality, therefore the ability to travel is essential.  The post-holder will also have the opportunity to work from home a few days a week.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be able to:

Deliver evidence-based low intensity psychological interventions to patients with common  mental health problems in accordance with NICE guidelines (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) and the Talking Therapies manual stepped care model. 

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service and develop programmes of care packages.

Assess and support people with a common mental health problems in the self-management of their recovery.

Undertakes patient-centred assessments which identifies areas where the person wishes to see change and/or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.

Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the service referral protocols, refer unsuitable clients to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary, or use clinical judgement to determine whether treatment is required at intensity psychological therapy.

Engage in regular clinical and case management supervision, clinical skills sessions and deliver group therapy.

Attend additional training as and when required.
