An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy team at Sheffield Children’s. This is a great chance to become part of a compassionate, supportive, and progressive team, committed to delivering high-quality care to children and their families.

You’ll play an important part in the smooth running of outpatient services, providing a warm welcome at reception and delivering efficient administrative and housekeeping support across the Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Neurophysiology, and ME/CFS/Post-Viral Fatigue services.

About You:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent experience

  • Experience in administration and customer-facing environments

  • Confident using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications

Main duties of the job

You will report to the Business Administrator, and your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide a welcoming reception service to children and families attending the department

  • Perform daily administrative tasks including appointment bookings, record-keeping, and communication with internal and external teams

  • Help to maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment, escalating issues

  • Contribute to improving service delivery and supporting colleagues during absences

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • English and Maths to Grade 4 or Grade C at GCSE or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL qualification or equivalent (Text Production and Word processing qualification)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Experience of working with different computer software e.g. email, internet etc
Desirable criteria
  • Previous administrative experience in the NHS
  • Previous experience of appointment bookings
  • Experience of working with children with disabilities and their families
  • Experience with NHS software systems
  • Experience of working with confidential material
  • Experience of managing appointment diaries in a busy office environment

  • Planning & organising tools and techniques
  • Competent I.T skills
  • Ability to present information, written and verbal in a clear and logical manner
